Now in its 14th edition, the annual 24 Hours of Moab is known as the premier ultra-endurance event run on one of the most scenic and challenging courses in the world. The latest event also brought Granny Gear Production’s 2008 Suzuki National 24 Hour Point Series to a close. The Point Series included 24 hour events at Vail Lake, CA; Conyers, GA; Big Bear, WV; Killington, VT; and the finale in Moab.
The 24 Hour Series’ points system rewards the top places disproportionately in a curve similar to Nascar and other sports. (250 points for 1st, 225 for 2nd, 205 for 3rd, 190 for 4th…down to 5 points for a finish.) The overall point score is based on the best three scores out of five races with a minimum of two races to qualify. In the case of a points tie, the team with the most first places, second places or third places, respectively will be the winner. In the case of a tie with identical placements, the team with the greatest amount of combined mileage and elevation gain in the points-scored races will be the winner.
