This young woman grew up on a farm in eastern Canada. She used to hand water
bottles to her older brothers when they took up racing. Once she got started
racing herself, she was the one who turned into the top racer in the family.
She's won at least seven national titles in Canada, as well as a U23 title in the
Pan American Games and U23 wins at at least three World Cup races.
She made the Canadian Olympic team for 2012, but she broke her collarbone
in a high-speed crash three days before her Olympic debut. She raced with it
broken and still finished 24th. The name is Emily Batty, and she's one of the
nicest people you'll ever meet, besides being an amazingly fast rider.
