We felt you might like to see some of the photos we just got from Hans Rey and his wife, Carmen, about the latest delivery of bikes from their Wheels 4 Life
organization. Good people doing good things.
Here are some photos from both the projects administered by Agnes and ARUWE where we gave away your bikes. One of the sites was on Busi Island and the other Kyankwanzi. All recipients were voluntary health care workers, trained specifically to educate and administer vaccinations and medications. Their main target groups are mother's and their children under the age of 5, but they see to all ages as needed.
Malaria and HIV plus a number of water borne bacterial diseases and airborne viruses are a real problem in Uganda. Educating in prevention, providing clean water, vaccines and mosquito nets are of vital necessity. Uganda has had considerable success with reducing the number of HIV cases, thanks mostly to education. The fear is that as the numbers drop, complacency steps in, so these health workers are vital in advising against this.
