As more and more manufacturers develop products for the 27.5 inch wheel size, the future for the new standard is looking more promising all of the time. While we have tested this emerging wheel size against the more traditional 26 and 29 wheel options on hardtail platforms before, we hadn't looked at how rear suspension would factor into the equation in real world riding conditions. We got our hands on three similarly spec'd full-suspension trail bikes from KHS Bicycles representing one of three wheel sizes, rallied up the MBA Wrecking Crew and headed out to our local trails to run timed laps on the bikes head to head
Our test track consisted of a mix of terrain from flowing singletrack to fireroad and everything in between. After we compiled the course data and rider feedback about the bikes, we were able to come to a conclusion we unanimously agreed upon. Look for our full shootout in our July 2012 issue, on newsstands May 31st.

The different ride characteristics of each bike become quickly apparent when tested back to back on the same course.

Cat and Mouse: There was an accordion effect felt on the trail as the riders separated and came together depending on their individual bikes strengths and weaknesses.
