The Camp Tahquitz Bike for Bender event, took place this weekend and featured a 6-hour challenge as well as a 3-stage Enduro. The best part about this race, other than the fun, easy-going atmosphere, was that all proceeds benefit:
- The High School Mountain Bike League Teams
- Development of local trails
- Less fortunate children
- Boy Scouts of America
- Fallen riders
- Cancer research institutions
The Enduro featured a nice variety of riding between the 3 stages. Stage 1 was the shortest of the three and took the racers up and over wooden platforms at the beginning of the stage. The racers really enjoyed these features and thought it was a creative addition to the race. Stage 2 was the most physical of the three and had tricky switch-backs that separated the field. Stage 3 had a lot of flow, with fun rock lines to shoot through to shave-off time. All three stages added up to a well thought-out Enduro race, designed to deliver the most amount of fun.
The Bike for Bender event was awesome. The race organizers were very helpful and easy-going, making sure you were having an excellent time. The stages featured great natural trails with a little something for everybody. All the riders are already excited for next year’s race and we can’t wait either.
