SRAM Introduces X01 Drivetrain

As anticipated (and spotted on some early 2014 production models), SRAM has trickled-down their groundbreaking XX1 Drivetrain technology to a new, more affordable drivetrain dubbed X01. Sure, the drivetrain is still fairly pricey (around $1,340 for a BB30 setup with a 34t chainring and trigger shifter), but it’s certainly a step in the right direction and a sign of things to come.
Visually, X01 is quite similar to XX1 and shares the bulk of the same features and unlike the groups we have seen on 2014 bikes, the aftermarket version of X01 will feature a carbon crank instead of alloy. While we have not had a hands-on experience with the new drivetrain quite yet, that will change very soon and we’ll be sure to follow up with our initial impressions. One thing is for sure, the revolution that XX1 started doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. 1x drivetrains are here to stay and they will
undoubtedly become increasingly affordable for riders.
