100 YEARS OF GLORY!


The official governing body if international bicycle racing, the UCI, officially celebrated its 100th birthday last Friday and to mark the event, some of the sports greatest former racers traveled to UCI headquarters in Switzerland to ride from Paris to Lausanne. While the event was heavily salted with road greats such as Eddy Merckx, Greg LeMond, Tony Rominger, Claudio Chiappucci, Ron Kiefel, Davis Phinney, Sheila Young Ochowicz, Jim Ochowicz, Connie Paraskevin Young, Andy Hampsten, Jeannie Longo-Ciprelli and Maurizio Fondriest, mountain biking honor was upheld with Juli Furtado riding amongst the 100 cycling luminaries.
The UCI first met in Paris on April 14, 1900. A special commemorative plaque will be placed at the home offices to mark the occasion.
