Whistler Crankworx in Canada may be canceled for this year, but Crankworx Innsbruck in Austria is going off. Here’s Red Bull TV’s video of the dual-slalom action, filmed while it was happening on Thursday: https://www.redbull.com/int-en/live/crankworx-innsbruck-dual-slalom
If you get a chance, check out Jackson Goldstone racing against the pros in the video. He’s in the very first matchup of round one of the action. The announcers say that he’s 13-1/2 years old, but other sources on the internet say he’s 16. However old he is, he’s impressive. You can see his race runs starting at around 9:30 and 37:30 into the video. In the second run, they accidentally show the wrong riders in the graphics, but the announcers catch the mistake and say that the riders are really Jackson and Bas.
We remember meeting Jackson and his dad a number of years ago and watching Jackson ride at Whistler when he was around 8 years old. He impressed us so much back then that we thought he could well be the top downhill rider or dirt jumper in the world when he grew up. This video reinforces that first impression.
Watch Jackson ride against Bas Van Steenbergen in the very first round of the men’s dual slalom matchups and then several minutes later when the two meet up again in the second heat of their matchup. Jackson beats Bas in their second matchup, which was not an easy thing to do. Bas was the number-one seed in the event. It’s hard to predict the future, but we still think that Jackson looks like one of the most talented riders we’ve ever seen,
