NOVE MESTO’S ELITE MEN’S AND WOMEN’S XCO RESULTS

The first Cross-Country World Cup races of 2023 are in the books

Tom Pidcock and Puck Pieterse emerged victorious in the UCI Cross-country World Cup season opener in Nové Město na Moravě after battling hard and mastering the challenging Czech course. In the women’s elite race, Puck Pieterse won at her first-ever Elite UCI Mountain Bike Cross-country Olympic World Cup after launching a final lap attack, followed by Pauline Ferrand-Prévot and Loana Lecomte completing the podium. In the men’s race, Tom Pidcock won after attacking on the final lap, with Joshua Dubau in second place and Nino Schurter in third. The challenging course, damp rocks, and roots made the race even more demanding. Numerous riders crashed on the rain-slick course during the race, including reigning Olympic champion Tom Pidcock, and the ten-time XCO World Champion Nino Schurter.
