As most people know, Kate Courtney has had a remarkable career as a mountain biker. She’s a multi-time national champion in the U.S., the 2018 UCI Elite Women’s XCO world champion and the 2019 World Cup Series champion. She’s also good about sharing tips for her fans on social media. After seeing some of her tweets on Twitter, we went back a few months to pick out what we thought were some of the best bits of wisdom she had to share. Here are the ones that got our attention:

1. “You can keep punishing yourself for falling down or start celebrating yourself for getting up. Choose wisely.”

2. “Sometimes the only way to make progress towards greatness is to let good be good enough.”

3. “Optimism is the belief that no matter how many days it rains, the sun will eventually shine. Keep looking for rainbows.”

4. “Any experience, no matter how small, can change you for the better if you pay attention and let it.”

5. “Learning comes from engaging with the outside. Change comes from engaging with what’s inside. We need both.”

6. “Learnings from today’s ride: when it’s over 90 degrees, you are always one interval away from explosion/death and one popsicle away from feeling just fine again.”

7. “Don’t be afraid to start over as many times as it takes to get it right.”

Note: Beneath that last post, one of Kate’s Twitter followers asked, “Is this about knitting?”

Kate replied, “Full disclosure, it is about knitting.”
