Q: It’s self-serving, because I want one, but I’d love to see a comparison on this new round of enduro-ish 29ers that are all between $3600 and $4000. Some of these that are popping up are the Rocky Mountain Instinct Alloy 50 BC Edition, the new Trek Slash 8 with the Thru Shaft and different geo than its carbon elders, the Specialized Stumpjumper Evo 29 with a little less travel but very progressive geo, and the Devinci Spartan GX12s that’s even “bigger.” I’m sure there are others, but bikes like these in this price category were pretty rare two years ago.
Thanks for the consideration.
A: Hi, Scott. First off, let us just tell you that all of the bikes you listed are great machines, and you really can’t go wrong with any of them. We know you want more information than that, though, so we reached out to Trek and Rocky Mountain to bring in some affordable alloy options, such as the Slash 8 and Instinct, for testing. Stay tuned, and thanks for writing in.
