NEW BIKE DAY
I’ve been doing some research about what bike to buy, and I have finally narrowed it down to the Specialized Rockhopper or the Giant Talon. Between these two bikes, could you tell me what the differences are and which one is the better one?
Those bikes are both great options for getting into the sport. The Specialized Rockhopper Comp 29 and the Giant Talon 29 2 have an identical price of $750. These bikes will feel similar, with just a few notable differences. The main difference is that the Rockhopper has a 1x drivetrain, while the Giant uses two chainrings in front. If you want simplicity, go with the single ring option; however, you may lose some of your high-speed gearing by having a smaller single ring.
Another difference is the Specialized offers better brakes and slightly wider tires, which may make it more comfortable for a newer mountain biker. At the end of the day, you can’t go wrong with either bike, as they basically offer the same ride quality. We’d suggest picking the bike you can get your hands on first, considering how fast bikes in this price range are selling now.
