Q: I really enjoy every magazine. You guys always include very interesting stuff.
I would love to see a section on how to train for an MTB race. I just competed in one, and I ended up in last place. I am an avid CrossFit athlete, but this is beyond being strong. If you guys could include this section that would be great.

A: We can see how this could be frustrating. It sounds like you work out frequently, but your efforts are not helping your mountain bike racing. Our guess is that you’re doing the wrong type of workouts. First of all, there’s no substitute for riding your bike. Spending as much time as possible riding is crucial. If you wish to continue doing CrossFit workouts, we suggest focusing more on endurance and explosive moves than heavy lifting. We ran a no-weights-needed workout story in our last issue and plan to do more fitness-related stories in the future.
