Avid is the first company to let slip on their 2012 product line with the introduction of an all-new Elixir 9 and Elixir 7 brakes. Please note that the following information was supplied to us by Avid. We have not tested these products and this is in no way an endorsement. Of course, we will get our mits on these brakes as soon as possible for an MBA Thrash Test.
New for 2012, The Avid Elixir 9 has a claimed weight of 12.6 ounces and combines an updated TaperBore system, a new two-piece caliper and heat-shedding HS1 cross-drilled rotors, making the Elixir 9 simultaneously smooth and powerful.
The Elixir 9 brings to the table tool-free reach and contact adjustment to let riders dial-in the perfect feel in under a minute.

-New Tool-Free Reach Adjust
For 2012, the all-new Elixir 7 gets the same revamped TaperBore design, new two-piece caliper and the heat-shedding HS1 rotor found on the Elixir 9. It still has the MMX-compatible hinge clamp but does not feature the Contact Adjust.
