A Spoke Saves the Ride
Here’s a great reason your hydration pack should have a spare spoke inside—because they’re not always lying on the ground, waiting to save the day!
Here’s MBA reader Gilbert Madrid and his trailside fix.
“My buddy Chris lost a brake bolt halfway down Freight Train in Whistler. We stopped and he happened to find a single spoke on the side of the trail. He slid it through the [brake pad’s retaining clip] and wrapped it around the seat stay—it worked and he rode it down with no issues! It was hard to believe, we thought he was done and would be walking down—it was a great save and made for another great Whistler story!”
