BMC’S 2013 Teamelite TE01 29 Hardtail
MBA had the opportunity to take the new TE01 29 out for a spin and sample some of Sea Otter’s best trails.
The Teamelite will weigh around 22lbs. equipped with SRAM’s XO group and will be available in three sizes: S,M,L.
The bike will be available in early June 2012 and will run around $5500.
The goal in making a good 29’r carbon hardtail, is to make it light enough to race and fun enough to ride all day. BMC uses tapered carbon tubing and a unique rear triangle design to help soak up all the bumps.
A shorter headtube and smaller stem was put into place to compenstate for the larger wheel size. This design will allow the rider to fit better into the bike.
BMC opted for the BB92 bottom bracket for added rigidity and mounted a “chain catcher” on the drive-side.
Not only does the carbon “natural-born” post mount look good, it should help ensure maximum braking power and help shed the heat.
All three TE01 bike sizes will come with a chain stay length of 16.8. A smaller chain stay helps improve the rear wheel traction and the maneuverability of the bike.

Though, we had only a few hours to ride the Teamelite 29, we were sad to let it go. We are looking forward to putting the TE01 through our full test in the future.
