XCC, XCO and Downhill results, June 30 to July 2, 2023; Trentino, Italy

It was a wild and memorable weekend for the World Cup racers and fans. Three weeks after taking his record 34th World Cup Cross-XCO win, Nino Schurter, 37, returned to top form and scored his 35th such win.

In the Women’s XCO ranks, Puck Pieterse scored another win this year, suggesting that she could be the most formidable Elite Woman racer this year.

Of the American women, Gwendalyn Gibson did best in the XCO battle, taking 12th in the event with Kate Courtney taking 13th.

In the Short Track racing, Courtney did better than Gibson, with Kate taking 10th and Gwendalyn taking 11th.

Australia’s Laura Stigger won the XCC Short Track event among the Elite Women, with Germany’s Luca Schwarzbauer taking the Elite Men’s race.

In the Elite Women’s Downhill racing, Austria’s Vali Höll took another win, while Canada’s Jackson Goldstone scored his first World Cup win in the Elite Men’s ranks, with fellow Canadian Finn Iles taking second, a little over two seconds behind him on the clock. Luca Shaw was the top American in the event, placing 13th. Jordan Williams, Great Britain’s new downhill sensation, placed 31st, after a mishap near the end of his run.
