The Final GRiT (Girls Riding Together) Gathering
The final GRiT (Girls Riding Together) Gathering will be held on Saturday, February 8th at the KS Suspension USA headquarters in Lake Forest from 9 a.m. to noon. GRiT Gatherings have been gaining momentum throughout the fall and winter and we are hoping this event will be one of the biggest gatherings of female student-athletes and coaches in SoCal League history! There will be a stellar group of female Professional mountain bikers attending the event such as 3x World Champion Anneke Beerten, 2x Leadville winner Larissa Connors, Downhill World Champion Leigh Donovan, and others.
SoCal League’s Challenge: With over 50 female student-athletes and coaches already signed up, we are getting excited for the day! A social ride with selfies, a group of rad Pro women to ride with, icebreaker games, and ice cream will all be highlights of the day. Our CHALLENGE for YOU is simple- SIGN UP FOR THE EVENT AND BRING A FRIEND. Haro Bikes will even be there with a full demo fleet!!
BBQ and Raffle, with a FREE BIKE: From noon to 1 p.m. KS will be barbequing hot dogs and SoCal League will hold an amazing raffle with KS seat droppers, Shimano swag, and Kenda tires. Also, thanks to a generous donor (an amazing couple who wanted to help get #morekidsonbikes), a Haro Double Peak Comp will be given away to a female student-athlete attending the GRiT Gathering and a Haro Double Peak Sport will be given away to a student-athlete attending the New Racer Clinic!
Coed New Racer Clinic: In the afternoon, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. we will be hosting a coed New Racer Clinic. We will go over important knowledge like race starts, staging, nutrition, and strategy. These clinics are very helpful for kids who are new to the league. Racing can be scary and our goal is to make racing fun by helping grow their confidence. Haro will also be present for the New Racer Clinic!
How to sign up for the day: Registration for student-athletes (grades 6-12) and coaches can be completed through the same link, which can be found HERE. Students who are not on a NICA team can attend and see what the sport of mountain biking is all about as long as they are in grades 6 through 12. And remember, this day is FREE! Registration closes Wednesday night at 11:50 p.m.
