FIRST LOOK: INDUSTRY NINE INTRODUCES SOLIX HUBS FOR MOUNTAIN BIKES

Industry Nine has released the all-new SOLiX M series, the latest addition to the SOLiX wheel lineup, alongside the SOLiX G and SOLiX SL families. These wheels are designed to bring a host of benefits to the table, including rapid engagement, lightweight design, and improved aerodynamics. Made with XC and Trail riders in mind, the SOLiX M family features flagship Ultralight and Trail 24-hole wheelsets.

The SOLiX hub drive system, is the heart of these wheels. Industry Nine says that it is optimized for superior mechanical efficiency, competitive weight, enhanced durability and is a significant leap forward from previous XC and trail wheelset offerings.

The SOLiX hub features a continuously-phased five-pawl freehub,  integrated with a 121-tooth drive ring, providing 605 points of contact translating to an ultra-fine 0.59° engagement. Made from A2 tool steel using precision wire EDM cutting, the pawls and drive rings are engineered to maximize durability. To reduce resistance and freewheeling noise, SOLiX has reduced pawl rotation, decreased pawl spring pressure, and optimized drive ring diameter.

SOLiX wheelsets and hubsets also feature high-load bearings with replaceable full-contact radial lip seals. By using the same bearing sizes on both the drive and non-drive sides, Industry 9 says SOLiX evenly distributes the load placed on the hub shells, enhancing longevity. The bearing preload method is claimed to also be refined to maximize lifespan and minimize service requirements.
