FLASHBACK FRIDAY: RACING AT MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN, MORE THAN 30 YEARS AGO

Ned Overend says this looks like the expert class to him

We found this picture in our photo archives, and we didn’t notice what year it was shot. It looks to us like the late 1980s or early ’90s. We showed it to Ned Overend, who was the UCI’s 1990 XC World Champion, to see if he could tell us, but he didn’t recognize any of the riders, so he figures it was probably the Expert class. The banner at the top of the picture indicates that it was the National Mountain Bike Championships at Mammoth Mountain. If anybody can tell us what year this picture was shot, send an email to [email protected]. If you can convince us you’re right, we’ll add the year to this post, and we might even mention your name. What’s more, if you’re in the photo, if you want, we might even send you a high-resolution digital version of the picture that you can keep as a memento or maybe even get a print made for your home.
