How to Ride Like a Pro: Kate Courtney
Kate Courtney

Focus on what’s right in front of you. The great thing about cycling is, there are so many ways to make progress. You can always go harder and longer over new and varied terrain. It’s easy to get intimidated by your goals or get so wrapped up in a particular outcome that you get in your own way. The only way to make progress is one step at a time. In training, I break my goals down into small daily challenges I can manage and complete. In races, I try to focus on the feature—rock, root or climb—that’s right in front of me and give a complete effort on that section. Keep focusing on that next step and you’ll be amazed where you might end up!

THERE ARE SO MANY WAYS TO GET MOUNTAIN BIKE ACTION
Mountain Bike Action is a monthly magazine devoted to all things mountain biking (yes, that’s 12 times a year because we never take a month off of mountain biking). It has been around since 1986 and we’re still having fun.
