Interbike 2014: Sidi, Osprey, Yakima and more!

Interbike has begun and is already steamrolling on with a “can’t stop, wont stop” show. The halls flow with frenzied footsteps that only rest when an interesting product stands out from the rest. Here are some of the products that slowed our feet down.

Overdue, but welcomed, Yakima is releasing a hitch-mounted bike with trays that will cradle all the current tire sizes out there. Yup, that includes 4.8″ fat bike tires. The days of taking your fat tires off and throwing it in the back of the hatchback are over. The TwoTimer rack (pictured here) holds two bikes and carry on the same tilt-down function of the HoldUp rack. The FourPlay rack holds four bikes, but the outer two trays can be quickly removed and only installed for weekend trips with the family.

The main channel has an additional recess at its lowest point to provide further stability for road tires. Feathering out the edges of the channel, fat tires sit atop the channel rather than in it.

Narrow tires sit in the cradles snugly and secure quickly with a ratchet strap.

Osprey’s 2015 lineup wants to make sure the kids are staying just as well hydrated as the parents. The Moki (right) is a small hydration pack designed to fit the much small torso of kids. They won’t be carrying only their water though. It has room for them to carry food, which can be kept organized by interior pockets. The Zealot (second from the left) is offered in a singular 15L size this year – compared to the 10L and 16L sizes last year – after finding it to be the optimal in-between size for all-mountain riders. It’ll be available in atomic orange or carbide grey. The Escapist, now in it’s second year, is deigned with overnight bikepackers in mind. It will be offered in 18L, 25L and 32L size options, and will be available in black, indigo blue, cayenne red. The sleeping bag storage area will now be expanded to being on both the 25L and 32L options.

The Synro line will be available in 15L, 10L and 3L sizes. We’re certainly most excited about the 3L option. Most of our rides are two hours or less, requiring nothing more than some water, CO2 inflator and tube. The Syncro 3 makes it easy with a lightweight pack that doesn’t weigh us down unnecessarily. It’ll be available in blue racer, velocity green, meteorite grey.

KMC’s One For All chains work for any 11-speed drivetrain. ANY. Shimano or SRAM. Mountain or Road. Pretty awesome. Both the green and blue colors are new for 2015.

Sidi has released a whole plethora of new shoe models and colors. From right to left, the Duran, Buvel, Cape, Drako (new color), Epic, Doha, Gas, Breeze Rain and insider. Whew…that’s a lot of new shoes. We wouldn’t do them any justice giving a brief summary here. Stay posted and look for them in coming issues of the magazine.
