Kate Courtney’s Crash May Have Given Her a Concussion
Kate Courtney revealed on Instagram today that she thinks that she may have suffered a concussion in her high-speed crash during her World Championship race on Saturday. She pulled out of the competition after the crash. The results showed her as a “DNF” (Did Not Finish) after the race was complete. Courtney was the 2018 Elite Women’s World Champion and 2019 World Cup Series Champion. We wish her a speedy recovery and safe return to the U.S. in the days ahead.
That was a tough one. Crashed in a high speed non technical section of the course and hit the deck hard. Tried to continue but once the adrenaline wore off, signs of a concussion set in. Only the third DNF of my racing career but an easy decision to protect my brain 😭 Thank you to my team for being there during this brutal year. We know the hard work and fitness is in there, just have to wait a little longer for a chance to let it show. We will be back. Photos: @swpix_cycling
Mountain Bike Action is a monthly magazine devoted to all things mountain biking (yes, that’s 12 times a year because we never take a month off of mountain biking). It has been around since 1986 and we’re still having fun.
