Kyle Strait Opens Whistler’s Crankworx with a Win

Dual Speed and Style saw Kyle Strait taking SRAM X01 DH, SRAM Guide, RockShox Pike and RockShox Monarch to the top step of the podium.

Crankworx Whistler has finally come! Known as the birthplace of the big mountain bike park, Whistler Mountain is one of the most sought after riding destinations in the world due to it’s diverse, developed and well maintained mountain bike terrain. Returning for it’s eleventh highly successful year, once again Crankworx will see the best racers and freeride competitors from around the globe gather in beautiful British Colombia for the next seven days with action packed events like the Garbanzo Downhill, air DH, the Ultimate Pumptrack Challenge presented by RockShox and the infamous RedBull Joyride Slopestyle competition. – Photo by Adrian Marcoux

Opening the weekend would be the Dual Speed and Style event where racers are not only against the clock and fellow competitor to make it down the jump and obstacle infested course fastest, but also rewarded for style points as they flip and spin their way down. Returning from his third place finish last year, Kyle Strait (GT) would combine his freeride prowess and past racing experience to come out on top. Strait would take SRAM X01 DH, SRAM Guide RSC, RockShox Pike, RockShox Monarch and TRUVATIV Bar and stem to their first Crankworx win of the week. – Photo by Adrian Marcoux

The SRAM Canadian Open Enduro presented by Specialized would return to Whistler for the second year in a row – the highly anticipated 6th round of the Enduro World Series was one for the record books with 5 special stages, nearly 7,000ft of climbing putting riders in the saddle for over 8 hours on some of the most physically and technically challenging terrain ever seen in Enduro racing. This round would be a true test of endurance, skill and speed that would leave even the most fit and capable riders in the world on the sidelines. – Photo by Adrian Marcoux

Steadily making his way up in the ranks throughout the year, Curtis Keene (Specialized Racing | RedBull) would impressively battle his way through the highly demanding terrain to claim his first Enduro World Series podium of the year just behind Nico Lau and overall leader Jared Graves. With just one more round of the series to go in a little over a month, Keene will take his SRAM XX1, SRAM Guide RSC, RockShox Pike, RockShox VIVID R2C Air and TRUVATIV Bar and stem equipped Specialized to Italy in hopes of another standout performance to finish the year. – Photo by Adrian Marcoux
