MEET THE RIDERS AND THEIR RIDES – Julien Absalon’s and BMC Fourstroke

Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 10.57.22 AMIn the world of mountain biking, there is no racer that can match the win record of Julien Absalon. The French superstar racked up 30 World Cup wins, six World Cup titles, five World Championships and two Olympic gold medals.

This summer, Absalon, 35, will try to win his third Olympic gold medal in mountain biking in Rio De Janeiro. But what is the world’s most accomplished racer riding this year? “My favorite race bike is the Fourstroke,” Julien told us. It’s the full-suspension, carbon, 29-inch-wheeled BMC. Like most top pros, Julien takes backup bikes to his biggest races. Julien’s second choice is his BMC TeamElite01—a light- weight, 29-inch, carbon softtail.

French superstar: BMC’s Julien Absalon probably ranks as mountain biking’s top cross-country racer of all time, having won five UCI World Championships, six UCI World Cup series titles and two Olympic gold medals.Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 11.19.44 AM

With Julien’s experience racing all over the world, he will likely know which bike he wants to ride before he even takes one lap around a course. Julien started using 29-inch wheels in some non-World Cup races in 2011. He began using 29-inch wheels in the World up races in 2013. He started racing BMC’s Fourstroke full-suspension bike in the World Cup series in 2014 and won both the World Cup series title and the UCI Elite Men’s Cross-Country World Championship on that bike.
