Mountain Bike Action First Ride: Trek Supercaliber XC Bike
Trek Supercaliber XC Bike
Developed by Trek engineers over three years, the Supercaliber made its first stealth-like appearance in 2019 at the Nove Mesto UCI World Cup race with top riders Jolanda Neff and Emily Batty pushing the design of the bike to its limits.
While spectators watched that weekend’s race, the design was still under development and literally covered up on the frames that the riders were testing. At the time, it left viewers asking, “Is it a hardtail? Wait, is there a shock under the cover?” The cat has since been let out of the bag to reveal Trek’s latest suspension design known as the IsoStrut shock. Fast-forward to the present, and the Supercaliber is no longer exclusive to World Cup athletes.
IsoStrut: The defining feature of this new category of race bike is Trek’s exclusive IsoStrut shock—structural suspension that pairs 60mm of damped, tunable travel with unique pivotless seatstays that move with the trail.
Mountain Bike Action is a monthly magazine devoted to all things mountain biking (yes, that’s 12 times a year because we never take a month off of mountain biking). It has been around since 1986 and we’re still having fun.
