Teravail has launched a new line of aggressive mountain bike tires called Kessel. It’s a downhill tire designed for superior traction in technical terrain, whether that’s loose, rocky and steep trails where traction is paramount. It features tall, angular lugs, an open-tread pattern, and dual-compound rubber with Teravail’s new Grip compound. Ramped center lugs help lower rolling resistance. Available sizes include 27.5×2.5-inch, as well as 29-inch in 2.4 and 2.6 inches.

Nino raced his 27.5″ bike in the 2012 London Olympics, where he lost to Kulhavy in the long, final sprint to the finish line in one of the most exciting cross-country races in history. ‘Jaro’ was on a 29-incher, and Nino was on the 27.5, and Nino must have decided that the bigger wheels gave Kulhavy an advantage in the final sprint.”
