Mountain Bike Action Product Test: Hollywood Sport Rider SE2 Hitch Rack

Hollywood Sport Rider SE2
Hitch Rack

Hollywood Racks got its start in 1973 when a Hollywood, California-based bike shop started manufacturing and selling trunk-mounted bike racks out of its bike shop. The product soon took off and the bike shop closed, so the owners could focus solely on racks. Today, the company is active in 25 countries and all 50 states. Considering Hollywood Racks has just under five decades of experience, we wanted to put one of its new racks to the test. This month we tested the Sport Rider SE2 with our most precious cargo strapped aboard.

Tech features:

The SE2 hitch rack is a heavy-duty, two-bike carrier designed to work with 2-inch hitch receivers. The rack features universal middle arms, along with adjustable wheel trays and wheel straps. When making quick stops, the middle arms can be locked in place for additional security; however, if you’re looking for more, Hollywood includes a heavy-duty bike lock using the same keys as the middle arms and hitch pin.

To keep the rack wobble-free, there is a lever at the end of the rack that tightens it to the hitch, preventing unwanted movement. When not in use, the rack folds down into a compact size nearly flush against your car or truck, and can also be tilted down to allow easier access to your vehicle. Last but not least, Hollywood took the extra step of adding a reflector to the rear of the rack to aid in visibility.
