Mountain Bike Action Product Test: Wera Tools Bicycle Set Torque 1
For a previous Mountain Bike Action article, we spoke with top World Cup mechanics and took a closer look at their extremely organized toolboxes to show our readers what it takes to keep our favorite pros’ bikes running smoothly. A company that immediately caught our attention was Wera Tools. Seeing its multi-colored Allen key sets and high-end screwdrivers and wrenches, we knew we had to get our hands on these tools for a test.
We figured if the Wera Tools bicycle torque wrench was good enough to keep Aaron Gwin’s race bike in check, it was probably more than capable of meeting our testing crew’s needs. This month we’re digging into Wera Tools’ bicycle-specific torque wrench to see if it’s worth adding to your shop’s toolset.
When our wrench arrived, it came inside a sturdy carrying case that opened up to display a complete set of sockets and bit sockets said to accommodate most road, mountain and electric bikes. Each socket and bit socket had a color-coded ring, along with a printed number to make finding the right size as easy as possible. Each socket and bit socket required a slight twist to unlock it from its carrying case. The wrench is held in place with a Velcro strap, making it easy to remove.
