New Products: Nikwax Apparel Cleaner-EVOC Hip Pack-CWD Awareness Bell

Screen Shot 2015-09-10 at 10.32.24 AMAs mountain biking is a technical sport, we tend to wear fairly technical apparel. Though the apparel may enhance our experience on the trail, it requires a bit more attention off the trail. Nikwax provides special cleaning products for our special gear. The BaseWash removes all the nasty grime and odors that tend to linger in synthetic fibers. BaseFresh can also be used to add additional conditioning to technical base layers. Waterproof items should be washed with Nikwax’s Tech Wash detergent, which effectively cleans the fabric without removing its hydrophobic properties. Feel like your shells are letting a little water through? Wash them with Nikwax TX. Direct Wash-In for added protection. For a variety of volumes and prices, please refer to their website.

Screen Shot 2015-09-10 at 10.32.39 AM“Dude, that guy’s wearing a fanny pack on his shred sled!” No, no, no. This is not a fanny pack. It sits on our hips and delivers compact awesomeness on short rides. With its 2-liter capacity, there’s plenty of room for a spare tube, pump, multi-tool, phone and a couple of snack bars. As long as you’re carrying a bottle or two of water on your bike, what else do you really need for a two-hour ride? It’s always nice getting the weight of a pack off your back while riding, and this solution comes with supreme German design and quality. Evoc Hip Pack

Screen Shot 2015-09-10 at 10.32.51 AMThe CWD Awareness bell lets hikers know you’re coming to allow time for them to find a safe spot to get off the trail so you can pass by safely. CWD bells are handmade in the U.S., 100 percent stainless steel, Tig-welded boutique bells with a CNC-machined striker that can be turned off by the patent-pending and spring-loaded design, which allows it to be fastened to the side of the bell. The sound carries a long way and is more Zen ice- cream truck than cowbell. The bell is best hung on your handlebars, then seat rails, then backpack, and is easy to flip from the on-to-off position, especially if mounted on your handlebars.
