Throwback Thursday: One of the Early “Mullet” Bikes from Back Around 1900

Mixed-wheel sizes have been around a long time

This picture looks like it was taken somewhere around 100 years ago. It’s a dirt-road bicycle with a mixed-wheel, “mullet” design, which means it has a bigger front wheel than back wheel.  It also looks like it has some kind of spring-activated suspension, both front and rear.  We wish we could get Loic Bruni and Hans Rey to try out that bike today and hear what they’d have to say about it. For that matter, we wish we could try it out, too. (Photo courtesy of the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame)
