By the way, we talked to Aaron yesterday and he told us what happened in his finals run at the World Championships last weekend: he missed one of the wooden bridges and went off the course. We guess he was going too fast to make the last turn onto the narrow wooden bridge. He referred to the incident last week on his Facebook page as his “off-course excursion.” Gwin is arguably the fastest downhiller in the world right now, and probably ever, for that matter— as his 14 World Cup wins (including four this year) and three World Cup titles would suggest—but he might have to slow down a bit if he wants to win the World Championship.
