Thanks for including a few of my pics in the most recent “Trail Mix” section; that was nice to see! Here are a few more shots for future consideration.
The first pic is of Greg Cohen descending through the dry sage of a San Juan Capistrano singletrack. This trail was almost completely overgrown and a vibrant verdant green just a few months back.
The second pic is of “Fiji Rob,” descending the Motorway trail, roughly 3-mile singletrack that descends for 1800 feet from the Santa Ana Main Divide down to the Maple Springs gate in Silverado, Orange County. Note the orange poppies—a visual treat that occurred this past spring.
Thanks for your hard work in consistently assembling a great biking magazine!

Motorway Trail is a 5.7 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Trabuco Canyon, California that offers the chance to see wildlife and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Horses are also able to use this trail.
Once you hit the trail, it’s 3 miles of straight up. Single track trail (lots of gravel). Gorgeous views the entire way, especially at the top. Watch out for mountain bikers coming down… There’s a reason it’s called the “Motorway.” Water crossing at the trail head. Absolutely No tree cover!!! If you’re thinking of doing this in the Summer, start early!
Trailhead parking is extremely sparse (5-6 designated spots) with a sign posted “No parking unless within the designated spot.” Adventure pass required. www.alltrails.com
