For most cyclists today, a phone has become as much a necessity for any ride as having a water bottle. And, of course, for just as many, the need to have the phone for conversation is of secondary importance to having it there to take photos and to track their rides.
As much as you can just as easily use a jersey pocket to store the phone while you ride, many cyclists we know prefer to run the phone mounted on the handlebars. While there is no shortage of universal mounts to bind your phone to the stem or bars, not many that we’ve seen are at the quality level as Rokform.
The Rokform package starts with a quality plastic phone case that is specific to each model of phone, and they have them to fit nearly all current models on the market. Most cases have two options for mounting to all sorts of accessories and surfaces. The first is a magnet that is specifically optimized so it doesn’t affect the phone’s function or services. The other is their patented Twist Lock design system that locks the phone and case to a wide selection of Twist Lock accessories.
The machined-aluminum Pro-Lite mount is their most basic and straight-forward model that fits like a steerer tube spacer above the stem. The Twist Lock holds the phone secure, and a magnet is also built in to add extra security. Although the mount itself sells for $39, the phone case is a necessity, and Rokform sells the package for $69. There is also an articulating Pro-Series model that sells for $64.
Installation of the Pro-Lite takes less than a minute, and the only tool needed is an Allen to remove the top cap. The Rokform mounts are made in America, and the ability to transition between so many mounting options
