Mountain Bike Action Product Test: Rockshox Lyrik Ultimate Fork
small-bump sensitivity is second to none. RockShox also made sure tuning was easy by keeping things simple with less damping control than a Fox fork. This may be ideal for average to advanced riders, while pro-level riders will be left wanting a more tunable fork. Compared to last year’s model, the new air spring is a worthy upgrade, but it doesn’t mean you need to run out and buy a new fork. Riders with newer Lyriks can add performance to their current forks with an air-spring upgrade kit. Overall, the updated Lyrik is a great fork for most riders and would be a great option on any enduro bike.
• New air spring fixes ride-height issues
• Great small-bump compliance
• Upgrade kits are backwards-compatible with older models
• Same outside appearance as last year
• Not as stiff as competitors’ forks
Mountain Bike Action is a monthly magazine devoted to all things mountain biking (yes, that’s 12 times a year because we never take a month off of mountain biking). It has been around since 1986 and we’re still having fun.
