RockShox issued an official statement on its position regarding the proposed oversized steerer, headtube and headset standard that was recently put forth by the OnePointFive coalition. The gist of the release is that the original suspension fork company will go for it if the concept wins industry and public acceptance. Read more about it at www.onepointfivestandard.com
“RockShox has and will continue to remain in open dialog with all the members of the One Point Five group.
“At this point, we will continue to develop product that creates a ‘reason to buy’ at the retail level. The 1.5″ standard is one that, in order to succeed, needs support throughout all levels of the bicycle industry, from the IBD shop owner to the largest OEM manufacturer. It is too late in the 2003 product development cycle to place the burden of necessary additional testing onto our OE customers and the associated parties with this 1.5” standard and its implications without their support .
“Moving forward into the 2004 model year, RockShox will take a ‘wait and see’ approach to see how many OE customers embrace the idea and commit the necessary testing to support it.”
