Nino raced his 27.5″ bike in the 2012 London Olympics, where he lost to Kulhavy in the long, final sprint to the finish line in one of the most exciting cross-country races in history. ‘Jaro’ was on a 29-incher, and Nino was on the 27.5, and Nino must have decided that the bigger wheels gave Kulhavy an advantage in the final sprint.”

“Tinker Juarez was racing for Volvo/Cannondale when I shot this photo of him at Mt. Snow, Vermont, in August of 2001. It was the final NORBA National Championship XC series for that year, and Tinker ended up being the top American finisher in the race.” - @ker_john

At this point, Tinker had long been one of the top XC racers in the States and had won the NORBA overall XC title in 1994, 1995, and 1998, along with a gold medal 🥇 at the 1995 Pan Am Games. He’s still going strong today at the age of 63, giving him one of the longest professional cycling careers in history 🏆
