SHORT TRACK XCC RESULTS FROM THE WORLD CUP RACE AT NOVE MESTO

Super-tight racing offers up some surprising results

The Cross-Country Short Track  (XCC) races at Nove Mesto today were two of the tightest mountain bike races we’ve ever seen.

In the Elite Women’s race, after numerous lead changes during the race, Jolanda Neff came from behind at the end of the race to take the win with the early leader, Rebecca McConnell, finishing second and all of the top five women finishing within one second of the winning time.

Haley Batten was the top U.S. finisher, in 18th place, finishing 20 seconds off the winning time. Kate Courtney was next among the American women, taking 28th place, 38 seconds off Jolanda Neff’s time.

In the Elite Men’s race, Alan Hatherly came into the event with the overall Men’s Short Track points lead, but he wasn’t able to finish at the front of this event. Germany’s Luca Schwarzbauer came out on top, riding for Canyon, with England’s Thomas Pidcock taking second. Christopher Blevins was the top American, finishing fifth. Nino Schurter placed ninth and Hatherly placed 11th.
