SNEAK PEEK! FOX RACING PROFRAME RS HELMET

Fox Racing will offer an all new version of its Proframe full face helmet this fall called the RS which stands for “race spec”. It has a completely new lightweight ultra breathable design and what appears to be the most advanced MIPS rotational protection design to date.

MIPS INTEGRATION

The new rotational force protection system is called Integra MIPS probably because it is the most integrated product that MIPS has ever offered. The unique design uses a dual layer design with the inner being made of EPP foam and the outer traditional EPS foam. In between these layers is the MIPS slip plane that allows for rotational impact protection. Soft rubber-like discs that connect the layers are called “woofers” because of their similarities to speaker subwoofers. Fox will be the first to market with MIPS Integra.

BELLS AND WHISTLES

In addition to the new MIPS design, the Proframe RS also features more complete coverage, a Boa retention system and Fidlock buckle. The visor is adjustable and features an integrated GoPro mount as well. According to Fox a size small weighs 710 grams, a medium 820 grams and a Large 910 grams. Expect this helmet to hit shops in September with a retail price of $349. Fox Racing also says that by fall of this year MIPS rotational protection systems will be featured in every helmet across its line.
