ABSA EXTENDS LONG-STANDING SPONSORSHIP OF CAPE EPIC

In Absa’s deep history of involvement with sports and sporting events in Africa, the 16-year-long sponsorship of the Absa Cape Epic has been one of the Absa Group’s longest-standing relationships. It has been, without doubt, one of Absa’s most beneficial due to the event’s global attraction and reach, and the dedication to bettering the South African economy through boosting tourism and creating employment in local markets and sectors.

BEERS AND SARROU MOVE INTO STRIKING DISTANCE IN CAPE EPIC

For nearly half the day’s racing, the leading teams remained close together. The shake-up came, as it has on every stage this year when the climbing for the day started. Hans Becking and José Dias (Buff Scott MTB) made the early dash uphill, showing no fatigue from their tremendous efforts yesterday and the day before. BULLS 2 responded well, though, as did Beers and Sarrou.

Overall leaders Matt Beers and Jordan Sarrou (NinetyOne-songo-Specialized) claimed second on the day, extending their overall lead through skill and circumstance – their nearest rivals, Canyon Northwave MTB, abandoned the stage before the start due to stomach complaints for Martin Stošek. Andreas Seewald continued as a solo rider but is out of the racing.
