AMERICA’S BATTEN AND GOMEZ VILLAFANE TIGHTEN GRIP ON CAPE EPIC TITLE

The next-to-last stage of the 2022 Absa Cape Epic was 76 kilometers long with some 2700 meters of climbing. In the men’s race, Wilier-Pirelli’s Fabian Rabensteiner and Wout Alleman rode a flawless stage to secure their first Elite Men’s win of the race. Hayley Batten and Sofia Gómez Villafane raced to their third stage win of the 2022 event.

MORE SURPRISES ON FRIDAY IN CAPE EPIC

Stage 5 of the Absa Cape Epic took the teams from the race village in Elandskloof to the new race village in Stellenbosch. The route took in three major climbs and it was Imbuko {Type} DEV who seized the opportunity and raced away to from the pack to claim their first stage win. In the CM.com Women’s category, Sofia Gómez Villafane and Haley Batten outraced Candice Lill and Mariske Strauss to secure the stage win for NinetyOne-songo-Specialized..

STAGE 3: MORE SURPRISES IN THE ABSA CAPE EPIC

Stage 3 of the Absa Cape Epic was another true marathon stage that was over 100 kilometers long. In the Men’s category, Speed Company Racing delivered on their Prologue promise of being here to “take over” as they stormed to the stage win ahead of Toyota-NinetyOne-Specialized’s Matt Beers and Chris Blevins.

AMERICAN CHRISTOPHER BLEVINS TAKES ON NINO SCHURTER IN SPRINT FINISH AT ABSA CAPE EPIC ON TUESDAY

Stage 2 of the 2022 Absa Cape Epic marked the longest stage of this year’s race. The men’s race was decided in a nail-biting sprint finish. Nino Schurter (SUI) and Lars Forster (SUI) of SCOTT-SRAM were heading towards the finish line in the lead, but Christopher Blevins (USA) overtook them. His partner Matt Beers (RSA) could not go with him, so SCOTT-SRAM took the stage win.
