HANS BECKING AND JOSE DIAS WIN STAGE 4 OF ABSA CAPE EPIC

Overall leaders Matt Beers and Jordan Sarrou (NinetyOne-songo-Specialized) claimed second on the day, extending their overall lead through skill and circumstance – their nearest rivals, Canyon Northwave MTB, abandoned the stage before the start due to stomach complaints for Martin Stošek. Andreas Seewald continued as a solo rider but is out of the racing.

SARROU, BEERS ROMP TO ABSA CAPE EPIC STAGE 2 WIN

The pair comfortably won the 98km stage that took riders from Ceres to Saronsberg, Tulbagh in a time of 3:56:02. The stage victory means they remain in the overall yellow leader jerseys going into tomorrow’s 91km stage that features many of Tulbagh’s most famed trails, including the notorious Bone Trail.

All systems go for the 2021 Absa Cape Epic, October 17-24

Most notably, the event will not have spectators, and access to race villages, water points, and other official areas will be strictly controlled. All participants and event staff must present a negative Covid-19 test before the start of the race and submit to a further antigen test during the event as an added screening measure. Whilst not a prerequisite to participate in the Absa Cape Epic, we do encourage all participants to be vaccinated. Further Covid-19 mitigation plans are in place and will be enforced.

Blevins Rides to Third Medal in Three Days in E-MTB at the Mountain Bike World Championships

This marks three medals for Blevins in the first three days of Mountain Bike Worlds with still more events to come. Blevins said, “A couple weeks ago, I decided it would be fun to turn this into a five-day stage race. I haven’t spent much time on the e-bike but I definitely will now. That was so much fun. It was definitely motivating when I was battling for third and to try to get away with another medal. It’s just been an incredible week and a lot of fun, especially with how different each race has been.”

The Epic Series® brings MTB stage racing to the United Kingdom, June 17-19, 2022.

“While mountain biking has been hugely popular across the UK for years, and particularly in Wales, riders have never had the chance to take on the challenges and enjoyments that an Epic Series event presents: a fully-timed, multi-day stage race in a two-person team format on home soil.” Explained Dean Smith, Cymru MTB Classic Race Director. “We have some of the best MTB trails in the world, so the next logical step is to bring the most prestigious international mountain biking series to Snowdonia, in Wales, to showcase them.”
