Nino Schurter came in second to extend his overall World Cup lead.
It looks like Nino Schurter has a serious challenger this year, as Olympic champion Thomas Pidcock looks to be the strongest racer in the men’s ranks right now. Nino needs only one more victory to surpass Julien Absalon on the all-time win list for XCO World Cups. We expect he’ll get it sooner or later, but he didn’t get it this weekend. We’ll see what happens in the next few months. Pidcock looks to be one of the toughest competitors Nino has ever faced. Meanwhile, Rebecca McConnell is looking like she’s the woman to beat this year, as she’s now won the first two World Cup XCO races of the year.
Nino Schurter scored his 33rd Elite Men’s XCO World Cup win, tying Julian Absalon’s record for the most Men’s World Cup XCO wins in the history of the sport.
The first World Cup downhill event of the year will be coming up in four weeks. Check the schedule and make your plans.
