Led by the unstoppable force that is World Champion Marga Fullana (ESP,
Specialized), Team Specialized celebrated another spectacular weekend of mountain bike racing this weekend in Italy, when the cross-country riders took home two first place finishes in the challenging mountains above Sarentino.

Following Barbara Blatter’s (SUI, Specialized) win at the opening round in Napa last month, Fullana continued the team’s lock on women’s XC racing by winning both Saturday’s time trial and Sunday’s cross-country event in dominant style. Furthermore, Blatter finished second in both this weekend’s events as well, bolstering the team’s profile on the podium.

With her strong finish Sunday, Blatter retained the coveted Tissot leader’s jersey – in both the time trial and the cross-country! Blatter becomes the first XC woman ever to hold two leader’s jerseys at the same time.

Fullana – known as the spider girl – ruled the field of the XC race in
particular, taking the lead from her teammate Blatter in the second lap and never looking back until she had built up a 1:14 gap by race’s end. “My Specialized M4 rode great as usual,” she smiled. “It’s got a new fork from RockShox, which I like – and it’s yellow to match my bike’s yellow paint job. I just need my spider decal to complete it!”

“She was so fast today, and only one can win,” smiled Blatter after taking second place. “At least it’s more relaxed being on the same team as Marga.”
