Sea Otter Classic, 2016
We met up with Danny MacAskill at the Sea Otter Classic in the spring of 2016 and shot Danny doing some of his tricks on the Laguna Seca Raceway. We also got a few shots of him posing with his bike. If you take a close look, you might be able to make out some of the components he was using that year.
Danny was showing us some of his nose wheelie skills on the Laguna Seca racetrack when we snapped this photo of him. Danny was able to do backwards nose wheelies on the pavement for something like 50 to 100 yards at a time, while coasting down one of the steeper sections of the race course. The guy has skills!
Following the COVID-19 shutdown of most of the bike events of the past year, things seem like they are finally starting to get back to normal now. We expect that the Sea Otter Classic will come off smoothly in October this year. The organizers didn’t want to go through the trouble of having to cancel it again this spring. By the time October rolls arounds, things should be getting back to normal for most of the bike industry again. We definitely look forward to that!
Mountain Bike Action is a monthly magazine devoted to all things mountain biking (yes, that’s 12 times a year because we never take a month off of mountain biking). It has been around since 1986 and we’re still having fun.
