Trail Grams: Pivot Testing

Which Bike Are You Testing?

As a long-time rider and subscriber to your magazine, I pay particular attention to your bike reviews. In the June issue for the Pivot Trail 429 review, you have the specs and pictures of the previous/old Mach 429 Trail. This was somewhat confusing, and I almost overlooked this bike due to this error. Fortunately, I found a positive review on YouTube and went back to check the information you provided and found the errors. I’m thinking you may want to post a new review with the appropriate information. Your website also refers to links to the old model. Let us know if you do update the article and possibly your impressions.

Mark

You may remember the Firebird from Pivot’s line up and while the Firebird 29’s name suggests that the new bike simply received larger wheels, that couldn’t be further from the truth. The Firebird 29 is a brand new machine from the ground up. Featuring a full carbon frame, 162mm of dw-link suspension and a Super Boost Plus rear end, the Firebird 29 is a bike that slays descents and powers up climbs. Its designed to be a game changer, rewriting what was once thought possible of a long-travel 29er. The Firebird’s aggressive geometry, long travel suspension and burly components will appeal to the heavy hitter, while its climbing prowess will encourage riders to go lap after lap like an energizer bunny.

Check Out MBA’s Bike Review: Pivot Mach 429 Trail

The review in the June issue is of the Mach 429 Trail, not the Trail 429. This was a review that we had to hold for a couple of months, and it really wasn’t the best timing, as the new bike came out right when our review of the Mach 429 Trail did. We are planning to do a full write-up and review on the Trail 429 later this year, along with the new Firebird 29.
