VIDEO: NINO SCHURTER & TOM RITCHEY—IN SEARCH OF THE BEGINNING

The two legends of the sport have been friends, business associates, and riding buddies for years

When the first “MountainBikes” hit the market in 1979, Tom Ritchey was the guy who designed and built the frames. In this video, Nino Schurter—the multi-time World Champion and three-time Olympic medalist—stops in for a visit at Ritchey’s workshop and gets a history lesson on the beginning of the sport. Nino then goes on a ride with Ritchey. They’re joined by Thomas Frischknecht—one of our sport’s biggest stars in the 1990s ( back when “Frischi” rode for the Ritchey team). Frischknecht manages the SCOTT/SRAM team that Nino rides for today.
