When the first “MountainBikes” hit the market in 1979, Tom Ritchey was the guy who designed and built the frames. In this video, Nino Schurter—the multi-time World Champion and three-time Olympic medalist—stops in for a visit at Ritchey’s workshop and gets a history lesson on the beginning of the sport. Nino then goes on a ride with Ritchey. They’re joined by Thomas Frischknecht—one of our sport’s biggest stars in the 1990s ( back when “Frischi” rode for the Ritchey team). Frischknecht manages the SCOTT/SRAM team that Nino rides for today.
