The Specialized Foundation started initial research in 2012 that revealed: Over a one-month period, all of the participants rode outdoors for 30 minutes, five days-per-week, hitting target heart rate for 20 minutes / day before school. The project examined cognitive, emotional, and social changes, as well as balance and physical changes before, during, and after the program. The results were awesome. They showed that after kids with ADHD started riding, the experience positively altered brain activity towards more “normal” brain patterns, increased attention span, boosted mood, and of course, improved fitness and BMI. Even better, it only took as little as one ride to start seeing measurable results!
In subsequent phases of research and refinement of the school program, schools that implement Riding for Focus for a little as 3:30:6, that offering a PE program with a minimum of three days of cycling, with 20 minutes of cycling in target zone, for six weeks showed improvements in academics, health and social benefits for students. #RidingForFocus
