In an upset that can only be described as phenomenal, American Myles Rockwell ended Nicolas Vouilloz’s eight straight times of winning the gold to become the men’s elite downhill World Champion in Sierra-Nevada, Spain on Saturday. This is the third gold medal for the US.
The course was all about going fast and pedaling hard-a Myles specialty. Frenchman Nico flatted just past the halfway point of the course and finished just over five seconds behind Myles for eighth (Myles? time was just under four minutes). His tire was soft but not completely expired.
Second place went to Brit Steve Peat, another rider who has the same style as Myles.
