DOWNHILL WORLD CHAMP REVEALS NEW BIKE SPONSOR FOR 2025

Filling in one more piece of the puzzle

Commencal-Muc-Off team has revealed that Loris Vergier has joined their team for 2025. The French downhill star, who won the Elite Men’s UCI Downhill World Championship in 2024, was shown with his bike in the photos promoting the announcement, but the photos did not show the bike very well, which is probably not an accident.

We suspect that Commencal has made some changes to their drivetrain for 2025, which can’t be clearly seen in any of the photos they shared in their announcement.

In the first photo, the frame can be seen on the wall behind him, but the drivetrain is not on the frame.

In the photo below, a piece of furniture is placed between Lorris and the camera, so that we can’t see the top of chainring.

When we zoom in closer, we can see that the top portion of the bike’s chain is hidden behind the table in the foreground.

When we zoom in even closer, we can see the change in the chainline even better.

We would guess that Commencal is waiting to reveal what Vergier’s new race bike looks like in a future news release. Companies will often do that so that they can sell off more of the past year’s model while they build enough of the new frames to have them ready to meet the demand when the new model is announced.

Commencal hasn’t said anything about that to us, though. Those are just the thoughts that MBA’s John Ker had when he checked out the photos.

It’s obvious that the chain goes up after it leaves the front chainring, but we can’t see what Commencal did to achieve that rise.

JK admits that he could be wrong, but he suspects that we’ll be seeing an announcement about a change in Commencal’s downhill bike design in the near future.
